The spherical roller bearing has two raceways in the inner ring and a hollow spherical raceway in the outer ring. The center point of the raceway of the outer ring is located on the bearing axis. Therefore, this bearing can align itself and may compensate for a deformation of the shaft or the housing, or a misalignment of the axis. The spherical roller bearings can accommodate both large radial loads and axial loads on both sides. They are also available with a tapered bore for mounting them directly on tapered shafts or in connection with sleeves on cylindrical shafts. Solid brass or steel cages are used.
