Axial shaft seal
Axial shaft seals find their use mostly in combination with other types of seals such as rotary shaft seal rings and are used as preliminary seal units in bearings. They act against dust, dirt, grease, oil or water splashes from the outside. In contrast to the radial shaft sealing rings, the sealing lip seals here do not seal on the shaft, but in most cases on a housing part in the axial direction. The V-ring, which at high speeds becomes a skid ring, and the gamma ring that additionally carries a labyrinth function, are the most common designs.
